What is it?
Being the digital fan you are, I'm sure you've already heard about "widgets"! Widgets are little files that you can run as separate utilities on your desktop. A Widget is a mini-application that can do almost anything from displaying a weather forecast to playing a game. Widgets generally sit on your desktop and don't look like "normal" applications. Instead, they'll likely look like pictures or animations. They are constantly updated by a web or other source, in our case… Truffles.
Yes, it's called Ogilvy's Vergecast – and it's a widget
We have been posting digital news on the Digital Watchdog community on Truffles for quite some time, telling our community members every few weeks what news was published through an email newsletter. But email is sometimes so old-fashioned, no? So here is Ogilvy's Vergecast widget, appropriately named after our worldwide Verge events and a small application that will keep you updated every day on what's going on in the digital world, in- and outside Ogilvy. It pulls the 200 most recent news items published on Truffles, and conveniently allows you to scroll through them by date or by category (eg. news on advertisers going digital, facts and stats, mobile marketing, blogs and podcasts, search, digital television, etc). And if you want to know more or search a specific topic, Truffles is still the answer. |
